I have no attention span for all things mundane. With Valentine's Day's approach, I was a bit worried about the date I was asked to go on. Would it be the standard dinner and a movie, followed by a little walk and a shared bottle of wine? I thought; if I were to plan a date for a person like me, would I even come up with anything interesting? I decided that I would. Not just for Valentines Day or some special occasion because there are plenty of other reasons to share a night, afternoon, or even a morning with someone.
Here is an idea for an "anytime, any reason date" for your favorite Nerd Girl or Guy.
First, find out what his or her favorite food is. Now we're going to make it gourmet style. If it's pizza, spend the money and buy the high-end ingredients. Make that crust from scratch. You aren't just cooking dinner for your partner you're doing it together. Make sure you have all of your ingredients before their arrival. Make sure you have an extra apron and all of the tools you will need for the meal you'll be making, and if you don't, it could turn out to be an interesting adventure.
Set the stage. Choose some upbeat music, and turn off that obnoxious TV! Measure out your ingredients and be sure all of your dishes are clean and your kitchen is free of clutter. Once your date arrives, work together to make your dinner. Do courses, have an appetizer available for picking at while you cook, a salad, a main course paired with a cocktail, wine or other beverage, and dessert. Include something your date may have never tried before.
Use this time to connect, or for some of you, to reconnect. Don't sit at the kitchen table. Find a cozy spot, if you have a patio, porch or even a rooftop and the weather is pleasant, lay down a blanket and eat by candle light in the night air. Set up in the living room with fluffy pillows to sit on. And for goodness sake, if you have to unplug and cover that TV!
Sharing the process of cooking helps you figure out your flow with one another. You can begin to understand each other as teammates. When you work together at something the two of you will find strengths and weaknesses you have as a team. You also appreciate your meal more. Your food and your date experience should be interactive. Anything that won't distract you from the person your with is a good choice. Try anything that forces you to share more than just time and proximity with your date.
Share yourself with someone!

oh geeze :P Yeah, these are suggestions for those with a little more zest for life I suppose. Sounds to me like those girls might be less of a challenge not the other way around.

Are first dates in Californina really this easy...? Most girls here in Tennessee would never do that..they are more interested in getting drunk with some idiot guy and thinking that they like them or something...haha. Southern Charm at it's best!
