Yesterday the head Queen Nerdgirl Cindy and I went to
Just the fact that they remembered me was amazing but to make things even more exciting they were really interested in Mynerdgirl.com. Hopefully we will get interviews with both of these amazing women. Another infamous woman that I met was 70's horror scream queen P.J. Soles. Who was beyond cool and took the time to have a long conversation with each of her devoted fans. I loved how she was such a huge fan of her own beloved horror tales (Carrie and Halloween). She actually seemed like she was in awe of it all.
The most exciting part of the whole day was thanks to Nerdgirl Cindy. Somehow she was able to use her nerdy sexiness or Jedi mind and scored us a limited
The first panel we went to about Halloween H20 and exclusive to V.I.P pass holders. This panel was good but my favorite were the discussion panels. The first one was between the Rob Zombie's Halloween cast and the second was with the Original 1978 cast. I've been to quite a few Q & A's and this one was more relaxed and funny the most. They never seem to run out of stories about the crazy times on set. Danielle talked about lying cold and covered in blood on the floor waiting for the next take. She said she was actually stuck to the floor because of the sticky fake blood. She said that she was able to really go inside herself and use the situation to add to her character. We often forget that movie sets are not always as glamorous as they seem to be. Danielle went on to say that at times when she was leaving the set it was hard to shake the fearful emotions she had brought to the surface that day. Dee Wallace was also at the panel and she was freakin' hilarious! It's always awesome to listen to someone like her talk about the business, when you've been in it as long as she has.
I would have to say that this was most awesome convention I've ever been too! Not just because it was about my favorite movie, but rather that it was run by amazing people who are fans first. Often the fans get lost as promoters focus on making a convention financially successful. The staff at this convention were all about making sure the fans were having a good time. I'd like to give a HUGE shout out to Sean Clark the master mind of this convention. Sean used to have a show on the Horror Channel called "Horror Grounds." It was a rad show. Not only did he give us a huge bear hug but he gave me a limited edition 30th Anniversary t-shirt. For which I will always be at his feet for!
I came away with not only with a shirt, poster, and other Halloween Goodies but a warm fuzzy horror feeling that I always get after a convention. A feeling that I can only describe as family! Nerds and horror nerds alike sure know how to take something small like a low budget film made 30 years ago and turn into something that's really special that many people can share. That's why I will never be ashamed to call myself a nerd. We recognize the simple joys in life, and take them to heart. For more pictures of the convention check out my profile next week.
