mynerdgirl asked:
I've not used condoms regularly, ever. I'm in a new relationship, and she's not on the pill, which means that I should learn the things. So far, I've been having a difficulty achieving climax while wearing one. What are ways to sensitize myself so I'm able to climax despite the loss of sensation caused by the condom?

Dear mynerdgirl,
There are a few things you can try to help that out. Try buying thinner condoms, look for Ultra/Extra Sensitive or Thin. I'm not a fan of Beyond Seven, their durability did not impress me. Durex and Bravo hold up fairly well and Kimono has a decent non-latex condom. Good Vibrations (www.goodvibes.com) and CondomDepot (www.condomdepot.com) both have sample packs of condoms to try different brands. On a side note, make sure you're not using any oil based lubricants with latex - it degrades the material and condoms rip, gloves tear.
Also, look for condoms with a larger reservoir tip. Most guys are more sensitive around the frenulum (the underside of the head of the penis), and the extra space will allow more friction on your penis. Place a drop of lube in the tip of the condom before rolling it on; this will make good-slippery friction around the head. Don't put too much lube in the tip. When that happens, it's not uncommon for vigorous rubbing to work the lubricant down along the shaft of the penis to the base, which makes it much easier for the condom to accidentally slip off.
Masturbate while wearing a condom so you get accustomed to the sensations. This will help you practice using lubricant (condoms get uncomfortably dry much faster than non-condomed sex, so have a bottle on hand and use it). If you have a death grip while you masturbate, this will likeley help because you'll have to loosen up your group and orgasm to different sensations than you may be accustomed to.
Cheers!
